What is Mace Pepper spray?

Mace Pepper Spray is a self-defense product often used to ward off attackers. It consists of a canister that contains an aerosol of oleoresin capsicum, or OC pepper, which is an irritant derived from hot peppers. When sprayed on an attacker, it causes irritation and temporary blindness. Mace pepper spray also has a strong scent that can be used to mark the assailant for law enforcement. Mace has been around for decades and is one of the most popular forms of non-lethal self-defense available.

What are the types of mace pepper spray?

Animal Repellents

Animal Repellents are a form of Mace Pepper Spray designed to protect against animals such as bears, dogs, and cats. These products contain the same active ingredients as traditional pepper spray, but in a slightly different formulation. Typically, animal repellents will have a lower concentration of OC pepper than traditional pepper spray in order to avoid causing permanent blindness or other serious injuries to animals. Animal repellents also typically have a stronger scent than traditional pepper sprays in order to better deter animals from attacking you.

Gel

Gel is a type of Mace Pepper Spray that comes in an aerosol form. It has the same active ingredients as traditional pepper spray, but with a slightly different formulation. Gel sprays often contain more viscous ingredients and higher concentrations of OC pepper than traditional pepper sprays. This makes them sticky, allowing the spray to attach itself to the attacker’s skin or clothing. Unlike traditional sprays, gel mace can also be used at close range without risking blow-back into your face.

Pepper spray

Pepper spray is the most common form of Mace Pepper Spray. It typically comes in an aerosol canister and contains an OC pepper based solution. Traditional pepper sprays are designed to be sprayed from a short distance away, allowing for maximum coverage of the attacker. Most traditional pepper sprays also have a strong scent that can be used to mark the assailant for law enforcement.

What are the laws and regulations around mace pepper spray?

The use of Mace pepper spray is regulated by state and local laws, so it’s important to familiarize yourself with the laws in your area before purchasing or using any form of pepper spray. In general, most states allow for individuals to carry pepper spray for self-defense purposes, but there may be restrictions on size, strength, content, and/or age requirements.
